Thoughts on Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars Part 1
Thoughts on the Farscape miniseries part 1, some spoilers inside.
While it’s great to see Farscape back, I have a very strong feeling that after the end of part 2, it won’t have been enough. I’d like to see the story ongoing again.
Some random thoughts:
Part 1 felt a bit rushed. All of the familiar elements are there, but the pacing’s a bit off. There was very little spectacular about the first two hours, although it seems like a hopeful setup for part 2. More because it’s Farscape, and less because of the plot, I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I like the trope of the Peacekeepers being seeded by a superior race. Hopefully, they’ll answer the question of “Why Earth?” in part 2. The timelines don’t make too much sense – why did it take so long to figure this all out? Why didn’t Jool come looking for the rest of them when she figured out who was in the raised temple?
Sadly for Jool, since I like the character, I hope she and the rest of the Eidolons are actually dead. I have some patience with deus ex machina, and to date they’ve all been pretty well explained, but there’s only so much coming back from the dead I can stand. Farscape is great because it has state, and sometimes that means people have to stay dead.
Moreover, for part 2, I hope that the hope of the Eidolons returning to bring peace is a false one. It’s too tidy. Nice try, but it’s a better story if the answer turns out to be something else.
Is Grayza’s baby also Crichton’s?
I like Chiana’s new eyes. Sikozu seems to be an entirely different character from the one we left at the end of the series. What happened there?
Answers tonight, maybe.

I am still watching the original series (season 2) so I am way behind, but I did enjoy seeing the old characters again and some of the new ones are quite interesting. The whole plot line is somewhat of a mystery though.
